What is Sterling Utilities Protection Plan?
The Sterling Utilities Protection Plan is a month-to-month plan that will pay your utility bills in the event of unemployment and/or disability of you or your loved one.  The specific Terms and Conditions of the plan depend on the Plan(s) you choose.  We "protect" all of your utility bills including electric, gas home phone internet, and/or water.  (See Protection Plan Fee Schedule).  Plans come in 30-, 60-, and 90-day plans. The Plan will make payments for utility bills directly to you and you will be responsible for paying your utility vendor.  The plan does not pay any "past due" utility bills, nor does it pay any late fees.  Payments are made to you in a timely manner and you bear the responsibility of paying them timely.

What is a Protection Plan?
A Protection plan is one that "protects" in case of an unexpected loss of income.  A protection plan is not insurance in that it extends the complementary coverage to pay your utility bill.  The Sterling Utilities Protection Plan is not insurance, nor is it affiliated with, authorized by, or sponsored by any insurance company.  We are not affiliated with any utility company either, so one may be with any utility company and qualify for protection.  Protection plans are not new, they have been around for many years.

How much does the Protection Plan cost?
The cost of course depends on the plan(s) that you choose.  The prices vary from $42.00 to $54.00 per month.  Sterling designed the protection plans to be affordable so that the masses could take advantage of the services. (See Protection Plan Fee Schedule)

You must notify Sterling of your unemployment and/or disability in writing within 10 days of its occurrence.  You must have been enrolled in the Sterling Utility Protection Plan to be eligible for protection.  There is a payment form to be completed and Sterling will walk you through the entire process for activating your protection to ensure all applicable utility bills are paid in a timely manner to avoid late payment or disconnection of service.

Sterling Utilities Plus, Inc. does require that you submit copies of all utilities to be protected with your initial application.  After that, we only need copies when you are requesting payment of your bills due to unexpected loss of income.
