Sterling Utilities Plus, Inc is now taking donations to help people who cannot afford to pay for protection

To qualify you must be:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older;
  • You must have been gainfully employed for more than 30 continuous days to qualify for Protection.
  • You must have been in the Protection plan for a minimum of 30 days prior to the Maternity Leave
  • Must qualify as "Maternity Leave" as outlined in Section III, "Maternity Leave"; and
  • Must agree to pay the fees by the due date to maintain an open balance; and
  • Must agree to accept the responsibility of paying your utility bill(s) to the Vendor(s) when payments are made directly to You by Sterling Utilities Plus, Inc.

In the United States, maternity leave for mothers in any segment of the work force is not guaranteed. As a result many women from low and middle income families can't afford to take 12 weeks of unpaid leave, as allowed under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act . In the five states that offer paid leave-California, New Jersey, New York, Hawaii, and Rhode Island-the amount of money received does not fully cover lost wages. Consequently, most women do not take time off.
